COLUMBIA RECORDS Wasting Light - ALBUMReleased April 11th 2011 Bridge Burning First single "Rope" will be available beginning February 27th as a digital single. Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, Wasting Light was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Grohl’s home in California’s San Fernando Valley. The no computers/no software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band’s 15-year-plus career: From first single “Rope” to the frenetic opener “Bridge Burning” to the beautifully bipolar “These Days” to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould (“Dear Rosemary") and Krist Novoselic ("I Should Have Known"), Wasting Light is a singular triumph: a band that’s headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with a world class band’s finest hour. Concurrent with the album’s release, Exclusive Media Group’s documentary division Spitfire Pictures are producing a feature documentary about the Foo Fighters directed by Academy Award winner James Moll (The Last Days, Running The Sahara). Co-produced and co-financed by Exclusive Media Group and RCA Records, Moll’s documentary chronicles the entire history of the Foo Fighters, from the cassette demos Grohl recorded during his tenure as Nirvana’s drummer through their ascent to their Grammy-winning, multi-platinum, arena and stadium headlining status as one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. This chronicling of the Foo Fighters’ triumphs and tragedies culminates in an in-depth behind the scenes perspective on the making of the new album: A process in which the band pushed itself forward by returning to its roots and recording in Grohl’s garage completely on analog tape.

COLUMBIA RECORDS UK For those unfamiliar with the musical genre known as rock n roll, Foo Fighters debuted with the 1995 album of the same name. The band's second record, the double-platinum The Colour & The Shape, was originally issued in 1997 and since reissued in a deluxe 10th anniversary edition. The third and fourth Foo Fighters albums, There Is Nothing Left To Lose (1999) and One By One (2002) , won consecutive Best Rock Album Grammy awards. In 2005, Foo Fighters celebrated the band's 10-year anniversary with the two-disc In Your Honor, which was followed by the intimate 2006 acoustically augmented theater tour documented on the Skin + Bones album and DVD. The most recent Foo Fighters studio album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace was released in 2007, setting the iTunes UK record for first week sales, earning the Foos their third Best Rock Album Grammy and sixth overall, and sweeping the Brit Awards' top international categories. The tour supporting ESP&G climaxed with the band's biggest ever headline engagement, a two-night stand at London's Wembley Stadium attended by 165,000 fans--setting the venue's two-night attendance record--and immortalized on the 18-song Foo Fighters: Live At Wembley Stadium DVD. At the now historic Wembley
shows, Grohl asked the crowd "How did this band get so f***ing big?" On
November 2, Foo Fighters Greatest Hits will explain. |
